Solar Power

Solar ventilators, solar panels, solar regulators, for caravans and motorhomes

We have listed the harder to get solar stuff here, like "Poly-crystaline" panels.

Odd sized solar panels are great when space is limited, or to fill a gap between larger panels. Solar ventilators are quiet, efficient and can run all day when the sun is shining, so the do help draw the heat out as well as odours and steam.

50 watt POLY-CRYSTALINE Solar Panel

Mono-crystalline panels are cheaper to buy, but put out a lot less "grunt" than the poly-crystaline ones.

We have both and have found that when the temperature goes up, the charge rate of the Monos falls, where as the Polys love the heat and produce more power as the sun shines brighter!

Basically, Monos are probably great for Tassie or Antartica, but Polys are the go for up North, out West, or anywhere the climate is HOT.

The main difference is in the construction of the solar cells. Mono's are printed circuit manufactured by machine, and poly's are actual crystal slabs of the good stuff made by God. 2 of these (Total power 100watts) will charge the fridge batteries fine! Don't waste yer bucks on cheap e-Bay mono panels unless you want twice as many panels on yer roof.

In our experience, 2 Polys = 3.25 Monos, or 80 watts of "Poly" power = 125 watts "Mono" power! Don't believe me? Well do a Google for poly/mono crystaline comparisons and the results are even worse.

You can get one of these Poly-crystalline Solar Panels for just over $400 bucks
